Queensland Government - myQld Portal

Business requirement

A strategic need within Queensland Government to increase the scale, sophistication and usability of online services offered to citizens in response to the following:

  1. A strategic driver to increase the responsiveness of Qld Government services offered and delivered to citizens.

  2. COVID-19 implications demanding less in-person services in favour of online/self-service alternatives.

What we did

  • The myQld business strategy and solution roadmap.
  • UX research and creation UX wireframes, clickable prototypes, and high fidelity designs
  • Solution architecture, project management, business analysis, cloud infrastructure, security architecture, UX research and design, UI design, full stack software development, manual and automated testing
  • Creation of a forms generation framework for rapid forms development, field re-use and validation, user profile management and intelligent form prefill
  • Creation of a whole of government concession finder solution including analysis of ~100 Qld Government concessions to produce a consolidated and user centric Q&A interface
  • Integration with multiple third party APIs and systems including Google Places, Qld Government Identity Broker and Identity Providers (IdB/IdP), ABN validation service, federal Document Verification Service (DVS) and Qld Government Graph API
  • Deployment within AWS including custom database, APIs and integrations with core Qld Government Agency fulfilment systems
  • DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration, deployment and delivery along with integrated unit testing & automated end to end testing
  • An industrialised Agile development process to rapidly create the application with regular feedback cycles and the ability to adjust scope if necessary.

Delivered outcomes

A state wide citizen self-service portal called myQld which includes an initial suite of online servicesd using a scalable architecture allowing the Queensland Government to add many more online services over time.

Pipefish delivered a fully operational prototype of the solution in under 10 days and has since been expanding the solution to include several major service offerings.
